Mission’s Corner

✝️ What We Believe

We believe that missions begin with a heart for others. Whether across the street or across the world, we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus—bringing hope, healing, and encouragement wherever it’s needed.

🤝 How We Serve

  • Local Outreach: Supporting families in need, partnering with community organizations, and offering prayer and care to our neighbors.
  • Global Awareness: Celebrating and supporting ministries around the world, including those that uplift children, provide education, and share the Gospel in underserved regions.
  • Congregational Involvement: Encouraging every member to participate—through giving, volunteering, and praying for those in mission fields.

🎁 Operation Christmas Child: Sharing God’s Love One Shoebox at a Time

St. John Cumberland Presbyterian

Each year, our church joins Samaritan’s Purse in the global outreach of Operation Christmas Child, a ministry that delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need across more than 170 countries. These shoeboxes are more than just presents—they’re powerful expressions of God’s love and a doorway to the Gospel.

What’s Inside a Shoebox?

Every shoebox is packed with:

  • Toys like dolls, soccer balls, or cars
  • School supplies such as pencils, notebooks, and crayons
  • Hygiene items like toothbrushes and washcloths
  • Personal touches like notes of encouragement or photos

These gifts are distributed at festive outreach events where children hear the message of Jesus Christ in a child-friendly way.

The Greatest Journey

After receiving a shoebox, many children are invited to participate in The Greatest Journey, a 12-lesson discipleship program that teaches them about Jesus and how to share their faith with others.

How You Can Help

  • Pack a Shoebox: Use a standard shoebox or pick up a preprinted one from our church.
  • Join a Packing Party: We’ll gather as a church family to fill boxes with love and prayer.
  • Donate Online: Help cover shipping costs or build a shoebox virtually through Samaritan’s Purse.

🌍 Stott-Wallace Missionary Offering: Supporting Global Missions

St. John Cumberland Presbyterian

The Stott-Wallace Missionary Offering is the primary way the Cumberland Presbyterian Church supports its missionaries serving across the globe. Through this fund, missionaries receive the salary and benefits they need to focus fully on their calling—sharing the Gospel, building relationships, and serving communities in need.

Why It Matters

Unlike many mission programs, the Stott-Wallace Offering ensures that missionaries are not burdened with fundraising for their own support. Every dollar given goes directly to sustain their work in places like:

  • Uganda, Cambodia, Colombia, and Japan
  • Remote villages and urban centers
  • Ministries focused on education, discipleship, printing, and health outreach

How Our Church Participates

We proudly support this offering through:

  • Annual giving campaigns
  • Special events like “Birthday Gift to Jesus”
  • Missionary spotlights and prayer partnerships

How You Can Help

  • Pray for our missionaries and their families.
  • Give to the Stott-Wallace Missionary Offering through our church or online.
  • Learn more about their work and share their stories with others.

🍞🐟 Loaves & Fishes Mission Offering: Multiplying Hope in Desperate Places

  • Provided food and clean water in countries like Brazil, Cambodia, Colombia, Guatemala, Haiti, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sudan, and Venezuela
  • Supported domestic hunger relief in places like Oklahoma
  • Partnered with ecumenical ministries such as Beth-el Farm Workers, Coalition of Appalachian Ministries, and Project Vida
